If you picked up a Pixel 11 Pro or Pro XL, there is a free perk sitting on the device that is easy to overlook. Google bundles a six month Google AI Pro trial with every Pixel 11 phone, but unlike previous launches the offer is no longer pushed automatically during first time setup. You have to hunt for it manually in the Gemini app.
The perk is worth claiming. Google cut the free period from a full year on Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 to six months on Pixel 11, but six months of AI Pro is still about $120 of value at the standard $19.99 per month price.
Why the trial matters
Google rebranded Gemini Advanced to Google AI Pro in 2025 and expanded the bundle beyond the Gemini app. For Pixel 11 owners the free window gives access to higher usage caps, premium YouTube and Home features, and extra cloud storage without paying upfront.
The author who tested the activation notes that the offer still exists on Pixel 11, even though it is not surfaced automatically. The free period is tied to device ownership and is processed as a Google Play subscription, so you will need to confirm a payment method for when the trial ends.
What Google AI Pro includes in 2026
The 2026 tier sits above the free Gemini model and the AI Plus subscription. The headline benefits are:
- 4x higher usage limits in the Gemini app
- 1,000 Google Flow credits for Google’s creative studio
- Gemini 3 Pro in Google Search
- Access to the Jules coding agent with higher limits
- Google Antigravity, Google’s agentic development platform
- 5x higher limits on Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM
- Gemini integration in Gmail, Docs and more
- Google Home Premium with 30 days of event history for Nest devices
- Gemini in Chrome
- YouTube Premium Lite
- 5TB of cloud storage
In practice, the most immediately useful items for most users are Google Home Premium and YouTube Premium Lite. Those two services alone would normally cost about $18 per month, which already approaches the $19.99 monthly price of AI Pro on its own.
Advanced tools like Jules, Flow, Antigravity and Notebook are less relevant for casual use, but they represent significant value for creators, developers and power users.
How to activate the 6-month trial
The steps are straightforward once you know where to look.
- Open the Gemini app from your app drawer and make sure it is updated.
- Tap the menu button in the top left corner, then tap the settings gear at the bottom next to your account name.
- Under Manage subscription you will see a Start trial button. Tap it.
- Confirm the screen states With your Pixel 11, you get 6 months for $0, then tap the blue Start trial button.
Starting the trial creates a subscription through Google Play. The next screen asks you to choose a payment method for after the trial ends. No charge is taken immediately, Google only needs the details to continue the subscription once the free period is used.
- Verify that 6-month free trial is listed under the Starting today section on the subscription screen.
- Note the date payments will start. It is sensible to ask Gemini to set a reminder for that date so you can cancel if you do not want to continue.
- Select your preferred payment method and tap Subscribe.
Once active, the Gemini app will show access to more advanced models and higher daily limits. You will also gain ad-free YouTube via Premium Lite, 30 days of smart home history and advanced queries in the Google Home app, plus the extra 5TB of Drive storage.
You can cancel anytime before the payment start date through Google Play or the Gemini app settings to avoid being charged $19.99 per month after the six months are up.
Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL are already packed with hardware features. Securing the free AI Pro trial takes a couple of minutes and is the single biggest software value add that comes in the box.
