Its main attraction is an 8‑inch AM‑OLED display that unfolds to provide a spacious canvas for multimedia and productivity. Complementing this inner screen is a secondary AM‑OLED cover display, offering quick access to notifications and essential apps without needing to open the device fully.
Inside, the phone runs Google Android 16 (Baklava) and is equipped with 12 GiB of RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking across demanding applications. Power is supplied by a 4 400 mAh battery that supports 15 W wired charging for convenient top‑ups. This JP‑specific model steps up the base Galaxy Z Fold7 with a 512 GB internal storage option and a sharper inner screen resolution of 1968×2184 pixels, while retaining the same 8‑inch AM‑OLED main display, 12 GiB of RAM, 4 400 mAh battery and 15 W wired charging. It also adds 5G UW connectivity and is configured for Japan’s TD‑LTE networks, unlike the globally unlocked base version.
Compared with the other Z Fold7 variants, this SM‑F966D is the only Japan‑market version that pairs 512 GB of storage with 12 GiB of RAM; the JP‑only SM‑F966Z offers 256 GB with the same RAM, and the SM‑F966J steps up to 1 TB but upgrades to 16 GiB RAM. It further differs from the US, Canadian and global models by being sold exclusively in Japan with TD‑LTE support, while those alternatives target North American or worldwide carriers and vary in storage from 256 GB to 1 TB.
