Celkon

Celkon was an Indian mobile phone manufacturer headquartered in Hyderabad, known for producing a diverse range of devices including dual-sim and single-sim smartphones, feature phones, and tablets running on Android and Windows operating systems. The company’s smartphones were marketed under two distinct brand identities: CAMPUS, which likely targeted the mainstream market, and MILLENNIA, positioned as a high-end series. Founded by Y. Guru, who served as the Chief Managing Director of the Celkon Group, the company initially relied on assembly facilities in Taiwan and China for its mobile and tablet products. To reduce dependency on foreign manufacturing, Celkon established its own assembly line in the Medchal district of Hyderabad, with a production capacity of 200,000 mobile phones. The company later expanded its domestic manufacturing footprint by setting up additional units in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, and another location in Hyderabad, Telangana. Despite its initial growth and local manufacturing capabilities, Celkon eventually ceased production of its smartphone, feature phone, and tablet lines. The company’s exit from the active mobile phone manufacturing market was attributed to a lack of innovation and insufficient funding. While the broader Celkon Group continues to operate in sectors such as smart technology and digital solutions, the specific legacy of Celkon as a consumer mobile phone brand has effectively ended.
