Bkav
Manufacturer Profile
Bkav is a Vietnamese technology company headquartered in Hanoi that primarily operates in the cybersecurity and consumer electronics sectors. Founded as a spin-off from the Internetwork Security center of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the company was established by student Nguyễn Tử Quảng. The name Bkav is a portmanteau derived from "Bách Khoa AntiVirus," reflecting its origins and initial focus on security solutions. Over the years, Bkav has established itself as a dominant force in the domestic security software market, capturing over 70% of Vietnam’s anti-virus software sector. The company has gained international attention for its security research, including notable demonstrations exposing vulnerabilities in high-profile products such as the iPhone X Face ID system. Beyond its core software business, Bkav has expanded its product portfolio to include smart home devices and security cameras, diversifying its operations within the consumer tech space. The company’s entry into the mobile phone market began in 2015 with the release of its first in-house developed smartphone. However, this initial hardware venture did not achieve significant commercial success, as the device received poor critical reception and recorded low sales figures. Despite this setback in the smartphone sector, Bkav continues to maintain a strong presence in the Vietnamese technology landscape through its successful security software and expanding consumer electronics lines.
