Archos

Archos is a French multinational electronics company that was founded in 1988 by Henri Crohas. The brand name is an anagram of the founder's surname and also references a Greek suffix associated with power. While the company is best known for its diverse portfolio of consumer electronics, it has also established a presence in the mobile phone market by offering smartphones under its own brand. The company’s product lines have evolved significantly over the decades, originally focusing on portable media players, digital audio and video devices, and personal digital assistants. In more recent years, Archos expanded its hardware offerings to include tablet computers running on both Google Android and Microsoft Windows operating systems, as well as portable data storage devices. In the specific realm of mobile phones, Archos does not manufacture the hardware in-house. Instead, its smartphones are produced by the Chinese telecommunications giant ZTE, which manufactures the devices under the Archos brand name. This partnership allows the French company to enter the smartphone market while leveraging ZTE's manufacturing capabilities. Archos’s marketing slogan has shifted over time from "Think Smaller" to "On The Go," and is currently "Entertainment your way," reflecting its focus on mobile entertainment solutions.
